ExP is the curator and manager of hip-hop instrumental improvisation collective, Jamettone as well as playing keys for the group. The project came about in 2018 following conversations ExP had with various musicians around West Yorkshire regarding the need for a jam night where people of all abilities could have a place to play music with each other.

ExP is the owner and main engineer at DubWhy Studios with over 20 years of experience writing, recording, producing and releasing hip-hop as well as a variety of other music genres. Ben has also worked as part of www.rapworkshops.com delivering workshops and mentoring creative people of all ages, and was a Youth Music Mentor during the time it was operating through Artworks in Bradford.

ExP is 1/3 of the legendary West Yorkshire hip hop group Flame Griller, known for popular tracks such as ‘The Negativity’ and ‘Red Zone’. The other members are JND aka Jas0nBeats and Addverse.

Old Projects:

Tough Crowd was ExP’s former hip-hop band, running from around 2014 – 2018, they performed around the UK and released two records, 7″ vinyl of Manners/Forget Yesterday on Style Warrior and their full self-titled 20 track album on double 12″ vinyl (all now sold out)


A Up. ExP co-hosted and ran this music show alongside JND & Shnoots from 2013 to 2016 playing hip-hop from all over the world and favouring artists that were fairly undiscovered.


ExP co-managed and appeared in the WYcypher, it was resurrected in 2025 with a new generation of WY emcees and handed over to be managed by Doberman and DRMCTCHR, watch this space!
